Consider this resume:
Football is ranked #25 in the Nation
Baseball is ranked #22 in the Nation
Softball is ranked #2 in the Nation
Golf is ranked #4 in the Nation
Gymnastics is ranked #7 in the Nation
Men's Swimming & Diving is ranked #7 in the Nation
Women's Swimming & Diving is ranked #13 in the Nation
Equestrian is ranked #1 in the Nation
How would that change things?
Football and Baseball would have added a very STRONG influence in your perception...but I made those first two rankings up. That is ENTIRELY Auburn's fault...we are aware.
The other team rankings were perfectly legit and very hard earned by the students at our University.
So ask yourself again... should Auburn really "shut down their Athletic Department"?
As an Auburn Graduate, I can't really complain. Good Job Tigers this semester! Keep up the hard work!
