Where has she been financially harmed by this? I

"Harmed" as in her career and notoriety kicked off after it. She went from hot sideline girl to whatever she is now , and now we have a continued cycle of the "next erin andrews"

Her life was harmed by this

Her lawyers proved emotional damage so well that the Marriot lawyers didn't even attempt to touch it, only going so far as to say she's well off because of the video so we shouldn't have to pay her too much

which came off REALLY insensitive but it's probably their best strategy

She's still just a hot sideline girl, am I right? Perhaps not so hot now? I know she has that pain reliever commercial, but don't see her doing anything else, but then I also don't watch Fox Sports 1 much. She did the "Dancing with the Stars", but then she qualified to do it even before this peeping tom video came out: I mean, Sarah Palin's daughter did it, and all she was known for was for getting knocked up...

But Andrew's lawyers did what you're supposed to do: sue for a ton of money, to make sure you get a sizable amount when the final verdict is read. It's up to the defendant's lawyers to whittle down the final amount, by presenting their side of the case. Then it's up to the jury or judge awarding the final amount verdict to make sense of the case and decide on a more reasonable amount given the harm done. Perhaps Andrews' laywers just did a heck of a job selling how damaging this act was, or the hotel's lawyers did a poor job of selling that the damage wasn't that bad.

I'm sure the amount will be appealed, and the final amount awarded will be far less than $55 million, but the process hasn't gotten that far yet.

Whatever the final amount will be, as others have said only the hotel chain will actually pay anything worthy of note, as the peeping tom won't have that kind of stash. Unless he can sell some other peeping tom vids of other naked celebrities to online sites for a nice deal....
