Wow. Just...wow. WTF? That's going to piss some people off, I bet. If the rumors were true.

I bet it was a University attempt to cover their arse from any wrongful termination lawsuit.

Sad when the AD has a better handle on how to conduct affairs than the University system.
$150k is probably what they would've ended up paying him after the lawsuit.

He wouldn't have any basis for a wrongful termination suit though, would he? Missouri is an at will state, and there was no requirement to retain him by Odom. So unless it was directly related and he can prove it, where is the case?
This was a Middleton appointment, correct?

Whether there's any basis or not, we'd end up paying something for him to go away. This is probably a courtesy appointment and a favor for his wife and repaying him for standing up for the cause. That's my opinion.

Everyone assumes he had something to do with the so called strike. But word around the campfire was that this isn't true. He was questioned about being too close to players, providing meals at his house a so on. Could be a problem for Odom if an NCAA investigation ensued.
This is why he and his wife left quietly. Also makes sense he would return to this position. He loves the school and program. It is assumed he collaborated with black players because he is black and no other reason. No one assumes the same about Kul, and his dismissal was much more surprising.

No.

A decision was reached on Saturday, and according to the Missourian, the strength and conditioning coach, Pat Ivey, delivered the message to the protesters, along with former player Sean Coffey.

And he has no axe to grind... He's hated Mizzou since he was a player. What is he even doing around the university or the program?!?

At will meaning you can fire someone for any reason as long as it's not a bad reason. Him being black. Him supporting a black protest and getting fired because of it. Yeah, there might be a problem there, if not from a legal point of view because those cases are tough to make but from a PR point a view.

That by no way means he collaborated with them. Think about it in a logical way. Turning their backs on the players kills the football program. You could NEVER recruit black players if you shut them down. You have no chance in hell of convincing a black mom to trust Mizzou with her son if you don't stand beside them during this crisis.
Those who think a black coach who forged tight personal relationships beyond the football field with the players and then should have stayed silent are just not being sensible. How do you go back and rekindle those relationships?

You originally said that it was completely based on his skin color. That was demonstrably false. He was involved in some way with the football team's communication with the protesters.

Your definition and mine of "crisis" are different. And while I understand your point of view here, it has nothing to do with whether or not Ivey was involved in the protest.

We really don't know what his involvement was
as usual
We think we know exactly what his involvement was

Yes. Newspapers make shite up. I agree.

I not only disagree, this makes me sad for humanity. Caving to the voices of a few and allowing them to dictate policy was a huge mistake.

Yes. He is going out of his way to do these things. He and Foley are butting heads now.

wrongful termination
Not in athletics really. A simple "difference in attitude" is enough to justify. I'm not completely versed, but pretty sure athletics has different termination policies, since it happens ALL THE TIME

Read his full title and try not to gag. Inmates (administers) are running the asylum.
That's taxpayer money and as a righty, we hate waste.
