“One of the highlights of this year is that it’s the 20th anniversary of Alabama Softball and we’re looking to break a couple attendance records,” Murphy said. “We’re trying to average over 3,000 people a game, which has never been done in college softball. Our season ticket goal this year was to sell 600 brickyard season tickets and, at last count, we were at 581 so we’re very close. That would be a huge goal for us to meet if we can do that. If the weather stays nice, I think we can reach the 3,000 average so hopefully we’ll have great weather and see a lot of people out at Rhoads Stadium this year.”

Alabama begins its season this weekend at the UCF Knights Invitational in Orlando. After another road weekend in Atlanta, the Crimson Tide will host Troy in the home opener on Wednesday, Feb. 24 at 5 p.m. CT. That weekend, Alabama will host the Easton Bama Bash, welcoming Arizona, Marshall and Tennessee to Rhoads Stadium.

From Tuscaloosa News:

quote:

The Crimson Tide's second game of the day, the 1-0 win against Maryland (2-4), was a pitcher's duel, as a fifth-inning RBI double by Alabama's Demi Turner made the difference, followed by pitcher Alexis Osorio getting out of a bases-loaded jam in the seventh inning to earn her first career save for Alabama. After entering to secure the final out of the sixth inning, Osorio headed to the bottom of the seventh looking to preserve Alabama's 1-0 lead. After a leadoff single, Osorio struck out the next two batters to bring the Terps down to their final out. A walk extended the inning and a single to center field threated to tie it, but a quick scoop-and-throw by Chandler Dare in centerfield held the runner at third base. Reagan Dykes tracked down a popup behind the plate for the final out..
