In hindsight, booted was wrong of me to say as it was pure speculation on my part made from reading up on him between the articles at the time of his transfer and both ND and SMU boards. I certainly should have clarified that better.
He quoted lack of playing time once and his position coach at another time. Fans of ND said his attitude was poor and known in HS with rumors of the same at SMU (could have been sour grapes).
I thought it peculiar that he had managed to crack the starting rotation as a FR after Darius Joseph's injury but after the third game and a nice start for a true frosh, something changed. With no injury mentioned that I saw, he only recorded stats in one more game and did not participate in 4 others.
Then, he says he wants to depart and his coach makes some calls vs. talking him into staying.
I was reading through the lines, but it seemed more likely an attitude issue that changed his playing time and likely influenced a mutual decision for his departure.
Admittedly, I may be off on that assessment and will gladly retract it all if so. But it seems like a plausible deduction from what I've surfed through.
But, as I said, it was likely unfair for me to speculate. It just seemed to fit together like a few stories we've all seen when a player gets "unhappy" in a program.
