Obviously it sucks and it's shitty that there's not a way they can expedite that process.

Should've been enough to clear you from an international aspect. Or at least give you temp employment in the process while you get the additional info from Australia.
All of that said, especially having worked in education long enough to see some really fricked up shite, I understand the need for the process.
