Another school comes in and makes an offer that the other school can't. And that recruit capitalizes on it. Not a hard concept to grasp.

Then why stay committed? What's the point of staying committed somewhere for over a year only to jump ship in the 11th hour, without ever formally decommitting? I don't think we get him, which is a shame, but his recruitment has been kinda odd, even if he has made it clear the NCAA investigation will have some impact on his decision. Obviously, definitely want him if he sticks

I think you need to look up the word "committed." Or at least I think the word "committed" is used very loosely these days in college athletics.
