Defensive recruiting 2015 and 2016
2015 class:
5* DE/DT CeCe Jefferson
3* CB Chris Williamson
3* DE Jabari Zuniga
3* DT Andrew Ivie
3* DE Keivonnis Davis
3* DT Richerd Desir-Jones (currently listed as OL)
3* DB Kylan Johnson (currently listed as S)
3* DE/DT Luke Ancrum
3* LB Rayshad Jackson
2016 class
4/5* DE Antonneous Clayton
4* LB Jeremiah Moon
4* CB Chauncey Gardner
4* DE Jordan Smith
3* DB Jaewon Taylor (expected to play S)
3* LB David Reese
3* ATH McArthur Burnett (expected to play CB)
3* DB Quincy Lenton (expected to play S)
3* LB Vosean Joseph
3* CB Christopher McWilliams
So in 2 years, the new staff has signed 19 defensive players. Of those 19 players, only 5 have been consensus 4* players, and only 2 have ranked in the top 10 consensus rankings in Florida.
Florida will start to feel the burn of these misses a couple of years from now. This is essentially what happened to Muschamp, except it happened on the offensive side of the ball.
It gets even scarier when you break down the offer lists, which in some cases on this list, are NOT very impressive.

Yeah, the defensive recruiting is starting to worry me. Totally missed on DT this cycle and CBs have been meh.
Need to bring in a big time recruiter for DB coach.

Mac's gotta step it up for sure. We need some ace recruiters stat. Too much friggin talent in Florida to get our asses kicked like this for the studs.
However, if you want to make yourself feel better just go to GC. The land where this is actually the #1 class in the nation and we are gonna win the Ship the next 18 years running....blah,blah,blah,blah.
There is nothing worse than blind homerism.

Callaway was a 3 star. Just sayin
I dont put much into these rankings, we ll find out soon enough if our evals were on point or not

You need to look at how many of those guys we took because we missed on higher rated guys. The reality is a lot of those lower rated guys are the ones our defensive staff wanted. We will see in the coming years if their evaluations were out of whack or not.
I also don't think it's fair to count the 2015 class against Mac because Mac was in scramble mode after Muschamp being on the hot seat and subsequently getting fired left that class in ruins when he got there.
