Blake Barnett broke through the middle of Alabama's defense and was off running.
It was only practice. But it was against the Tide's starting defense, the same unit that finished the season ranked third-best nationally and held 13 of Alabama's 15 opponents to 17 offensive points or less.

Not a fan of how he doesn't cock the ball back when he goes to start his forward motion. He keeps the ball held in his hand as if he is going to just push it. None the less. If he gets the job done and poses a dual threat like he did in HS. I want him to start over Bateman.

Team seems to believe in his talent. He's gotta win the job though. It's not just about being good. I hope he takes the reigns during spring camp so we have time to develop our offense instead of doing it during the season.
I think Saban just likes them having to compete with each other for as long as possible.

Probably not even significant enough to be mentioned, but Barnett and Ridley worked really, really well together in 7on7 at the Opening. Seemed to have good chemistry.

I've seen Blake play in the closed session scrimmages early this season. Things I noticed:
- He can escape pressure and throws very well on the run.
- He isn't elite on speed but he is much "quicker" than Coker and he (Coker) did a lot with his feet.
- Everything I saw minus just a few snaps was not with the 1's, soooooo hard to say on that end.
- The defense lit him up a lot, they made him grow up.
- He is not to skinny and by the time the season rolls around he will be just fine.
- He can throw the ball sideline to sideline, and has a nice deep touch. All in all he is a solid competitor for the job.
- Side bar, Jalen Hurts is a fine athlete and may be in the mix if he has any clue coming in.

I think I'll slow my roll until I see him in live action.
The Aubs told me crow tastes like doodie when you have to eat it.

Man I want this kid to start so bad. Freshman QB, good arm, nice touch on the deep ball, and can tuck it and run.

I think that elite QB play would open doors previously not possible regarding the Kiffin playbook. If Blake lives up to the hype then lookout.
