Can't work both ways...if coaches like Ford, and he's a top 10 assistant (according to whom?) then why can't he build a loyal St. Louis base? I'm sure he's a nice guy, but recruiting is sales and relationship building, and he has proven he doesn't have it.

When you say "StL has never had an allegiance to Mizzou" then you're saying Ford has not built allegiances in StL. He needs help from a strong secondary. Now, in all fairness, I don't think there was a strong salesman on the whole Pinkel staff. I think Ford's tenure & Wilson's sales skills, would have been a formidable team in StL.

Disagree about Ford. He has really turned STL around in their views toward Mizzou. GP had the habit of making the entire staff sign off on a recruit before signing him. Which several recruits didn't like.

Also Cross would have been the guy to help there. Him being from STL.

Mizzou is pulling more kids from St.Louis every year. In the 90's we didn't get the Richardsons or Beckners.

I have to give Ford credit. He is building bridges in the STL. Has landed a few biggies. Did good work with Alton and Scales this year. Starting to get some ESTL players and has guys at least considering MU. It wasn't that long ago, (1990s, 2000s?) that STL kids would not give MU coaches the time of day. Ford is still fighting that at some schools I suspect.

Also, you make a big point about Pinkel's offer strategy. I'm guessing a lot of STL kids were told they should be offended by not getting offers on the first visit and that they were too good to need any "consideration."

We have Cross on the staff now as well. That can only help the recruiting in the 314.
