Trust is in an issue in this environment, but I would like to think with all the tech today, you could have some sort of way to disable it yourself with some type of owner password.

Again, I am hardly tech literate, it just seems that if you can enable stuff like that on phones, it should be possible for other devices.

Again, if it was much more difficult and the penalties were much harsher for criminals with guns, lots of these issues would go away.

On a tangent, I would also feel safer for some of my younger relatives. My brother in law insists on keeping his guns loaded and in both his nightstands. He has two twin boys (5 years old) and a little girl (8 years old). He says they know not to play with the guns, but my experience is kids will usually do stuff they are told not to do and lie about it later. We have argued about it before. The basic argument goes "MY kids are good." My retort is "So you never have to punish them for doing things you told them not to do?"
