Personally, my bigger fear where I live is someone breaking in while I am gone and stealing my stuff. That is one of the reasons I left my shotgun in Alabama at my father's safe.

I would also love to have an optional chip where if my gun got stolen, I could track it. It is worth more than my cell phone and I would love to know if it was stolen I could help the police recover it for me.

The trick is these things should probably be optional.

Definitely.

I think the legal owner should have a way to disable it. But a lot of gun issues could be alleviated if we could start getting guns out of the hands of criminals. If one stole my gun and got caught --- I would hope that would lead to serious jail time. Do that enough and maybe some criminals will rethink packing.
