Down 24-21 in the 4th 2-3 different people around me in the upper deck, after one of his insane Manziel-esque runs, looked around and said "We're getting Vince Young'd". I couldn't have agreed more. That was the best QB performance I've ever seen against Alabama, and that includes the two incredible performances by Manziel and Cam.

Watson made maybe 4 throws where he didn't (a) make time and space to get a guy open or (b) throw to a spot literally no bigger than catchers mit. I couldn't even get mad because I'm not sure I know how we could have done it better. The guy just did his thing and made plays. I know he hasn't made throws like that the entire season, but if he does then he will go down as one of the all-time greats. Just incredible.

He really is a Houdini. Hope he fares better in pros than RG3 or Kaepernick.

People have been comparing his performance to Vince Young. It also reminded me of Mike Vick against Florida State back in the 2000 championship game. Before that game, people were skeptical that Vick could do much against an FSU defense full of first round talent. Instead, he rallied Virginia Tech from a 28-7 deficit by making some insane scramble plays and throws.

Watson's throwing ability and maturity could be on a different level, though. I'll enjoy watching him for years to come.

... he's definitely a player.

Taterheads said the same thing about Connor Shaw every year.

These things, with those kind of players, come and go in cycles.

We're all looking for the next Watson, or Connor Shaw. They are rare players because not only do they have talent, but they have heart and guts.

My thought as the game was progressing was that it felt like the Oklahoma game vs. Bama. A quarterback who was throwing indefensible balls and scrambling around and defense getting a lot of pressure. It felt exactly like that Sugar Bowl loss for Bama.

That Bama stayed in there and did not falter really speaks to how much better Bama's mentality was this year.

Also, I did not think the game plan was very good from either Lane or Kirby. Lane can't seem to find a flow in these bigger games for some reason and I didn't understand why Kirby was so aggressive rushing Deshaun on 3rd and long.

So much better throwing and extending plays than I was expecting. He was better than Cam was against Bama.

Watson vs. SC: 20-27 279 yrds 1 TD
21 car 114 yrds 3 TD

Watson vs. Bama: 30-47 405 yrds 4 TD 1 INT
20 car 73 yrds

Our shite tier defense did better.... if we had more than just Pharoh Cooper we would've beat Clemson.

I honestly thought he was going to pull that one out but the onside kick and the KO return were too much to overcome. On the TV broadcast you never saw an ounce of fret on his demeanor which I am sure helped his guys keep their cool.

I want him again in a bad way. Seeing him again means we might just be in the playoffs again. Bring it.

Deshaun Watson

I told my wife about five times that we were gonna lose. And that was in the last 20 minutes of the game. Every time Clemson got the ball, there was no doubt that he was gonna drive them down for a score. Made the pop kick a more critical play in determining the outcome.

That kid is a helluva QB.
