Helps with recruiting great players

Maybe marginally. You know what really helps, getting good players, winning championships, and then sending to the NFL. Because ultimately, that is the "dream promise" these guys are operating under. All of the top recruits are operating under the assumption of: Go to good college with program that I can be successful in > kick arse/take names/roll up stats > Get Drafted (read: paid)

I do believe that the PR hype around Heisman players often detracts from the overall team messaging that is going out. Keeping them humble. Getting the best from them each week. Look at Fournette v. Henry this year. There was *very* little Heisman hype around Henry till 75% of the way through the season. Early in the season it was Fournette/Chubb/Watson > later Baker Mayfield, < insert White RB from Stanford >, and others came into the conversation along with Henry. Even then, I didn't feel like there was that much "push" from Bama, just people looking at eye popping stats and seeing his performance in big games down the stretch.

UGA's recruiting limitations (if we assume they have them) is largely based on *team perception* (underachievers, big stage busts, soft...) rather than individual recognition. Chubb (and Gurley before him) had plenty of publicity, and Chubb would have been in the conversation at the end of the year if W/L goes differently against 2/3 Bama, TN, UF (along with obviously no season ending injury).

Similarly, Gurley suffered injuries and the Signature scandal which eliminated him from contention.

Misplaced emphasis on shite like this is a great way to miss the larger picture.

The people that will be running the PR campaign for Chubb as Heisman will not have anything to do with our coaches or the people that help us win. We should push for Chubb as Heisman as an athletic department. Auburn pushed Tre Mason right to the forefront if I remember correctly. It will not be a waste of time or resources I guarantee you that. And it looks good to promote your star players and help get their name out there. Elite recruits will take notice
