Regional competitors. Or the country has Bama fatigue.

You pick.

Sounds like southern football fans will watch no matter who is playing. The rest of the country, not so much.

They missed a helluva game.

Well LSU folks started a few threads in the last week or so saying they wouldn't be watching.

There has been almost zero hype for the title game compared to what there was for the NY6 bowl games.

It was waaaaaaay too long a layover between the last bowl game and the Championship game to the point that most people kinda forgot about it.

I didn't even remember it was on until the 4th quarter.

Last years NC game was the highest rated game in ESPN's history of course it is going to be down. It still got a 15.8 rating which is the third highest rating in ESPN history. For two teams from one region of the country that is not that bad.

Going into the game, 8 of the previous 9 national title winners were from the Southeast. Given that both teams in this year's game were Southeastern teams, it's not all that surprising that the rest of the country collectively said "to hell with it."

Bama has gamed the system and it's become boring unless you are a Bama fan.

I'll go out on a limb and say that viewership will be down from last year.

That's not going out on a limb to say viewership would be down when it last year was the highest rated game in ESPN history.

And who cares? It's about matching up the 4 best teams.

And you got this useless shite for C Cowherd, he tried to make the same point on his show today you unoriginal bastard.

I hope the country stays tired of Bama. All it means is the greatest dynasty in football history is still rolling.

Both teams from same part of country.

Not complicated.

Well, what did you expect it's on a Monday night late... and did I mention it's on a Monday night late.

I don't know why they frick up something which should be so simple.

Last year it was new and shinny but everyone felt like shite at work the next day so they remember that.

It's not the Super Bowl where people take off the following Monday not close.

It was possibly one of the best if not the best football game I have watched in memory.

The Falcons Panther game and this one are the standouts for this season IMO. I didn't get to watch the Steelers/Bengals game.

Maybe the jackass should make the game when everyone won't forget about it. That week break is stupid. Play the semis a week before the last bowl. Then play NC after last bowl. But then we can't make a big fricking deal about how its so awesome that our game is going to be on the one night a year most people are at parties and not watching tv.

I'll be interested to see what happens if they actually go a few full cycles of the current setup of NYD semis only once every 3 years.

Hard to build much momentum for the title game on a Monday night when the semi-final games were a complete afterthought to nearly everyone on NYE and then followed by 2 days of exhibition bowl games.

They also have to find a way to finish before the NFL playoffs start.

Lots of butthurt L5U and Barn fans I guess. Why do you have to take it out on ESPN?

i was watching at a sports bar in los angeles and it was like a regular weeknight. I think Clemson just isn't a national brand and this game didnt appeal to casual fans.

Watching PTI on Espn all of the writers admitted Clemson lost on the score board but beat Bama up and down the field, except for 2 big special teams plays and a few big passes to Howard Bama was beat pretty bad. Sports fans don't want to see Bama beat a set up team like Note Dame, or barely beat a team like Clemson.
