An FSU fan is re-watching the game and taking notes?

Yes, I've been an FSU fan since I was around three and thought they had great uniforms and an awesome mascot.

I love college football (disillusioned with the NFL over the past several years) and that means the SEC. It's been hands down the best conference for football for the past two decades. I rewatch a lot of games and they're usually SEC games. They're just better games to watch.

I don't really like the ACC, and I absolutely hate the Big 10, Pac 10, and the recent Big 12 (frick Texas). I always want the latter three to be embarrassed and humiliated... They're arrogant and live on past achievements. I'm also from Mississippi and look down on regions that lack sweet tea that is 25% sugar by weight. The ACC is rarely up for the task of dominating those conferences, so it's another reason to pull for the SEC.

You do realize he set the record for yards in the SEC, like most yards EVER.

Plus, it isn't like Clemson held him 50 yds on 39 carries. Dude rushed for a buck fifty and 3 TD's.

Yeah, but he was a bit stifled against Clemson and they deserve the credit for not letting him plow through the center.

Very few teams were able to accomplish that this season. We know what Henry does and we have seen him play better games but, many haven't.

Most football fans have never heard of Henry or seen him play in any other game than this one. They aren't familiar with his style and Alabama's usual method of controlling the line.

If it were my first time watching Alabama play, I too would have been frustrated and wondering why they continue to run up the middle.

I just do not remember him playing that much.

What about the Harris kid?

Harris has gotten a lot more snaps, but Scarborough seems to be the one that generates the most buzz and at least to me has seemed more explosive in the few touches he's had this year.

I doubt either gets named 'the starter'. Saban usually rotates regularly rotates backs and he'll just return to that pattern. They'll be 1A & 1B with the only difference being someone has to be the first on the field.

What drives me crazy is when its 1-2 yards to go and we bring the ball back 5 yards from the LoS and hand it off instead of doing a quick hitting play from under center.

This is the only part of the running game that really frustrates me, but it isn't just an Alabama thing. All of college football seems enamored with spotting the defensive line 5 yards these days.

I think some of you are misunderstanding my post. From what I saw in the game, Alabama could not be stopped on quick hitting, power runs.

What Clemson could stop consistently (and other teams who've played Alabama from what I remember) were slow developing run plays in which Henry (primarily at least):
1.) Does not immediately get the ball or
2.) Has to slow / stop at the point of exchange
3.) Runs wide

#3 is especially irritating. There were multiple plays in which Henry is running, by design, 7-10 yards laterally while being 6-8 yards behind the line of scrimmage. Henry's performance has been exception when running North/South. His performance when not running North/South has been mediocre. The Alabama running game has essentially been over the past several seasons.

I understand why you feed the running game. I like that Alabama has a commitment to the running game. I'm confused as to why, in keeping a commitment to the running game, those plays have been called with frequency. It does appear that Alabama started moving away from those plays to some degree in the Clemson game in middle of the 2nd quarter by design or coincidence. I haven't finished rewatching.

Through where I am now, they had 16 run plays. Six of the plays that I think don't make sense for a total of 5 yards with no play going more than 3. Ten of the plays that I thought were quick hitters. Six of those plays were for 7 or more yards. That's massive production.

I'd be pissed if my team didn't score on every play if they recruited as good as Bama does.
I don't believe you.
