That was my freshman year at LSU. That team was definitely loaded. Most talented LSU team until the heydey of Saban/Miles. And it was also before Mike Archer had to start recruiting replacements. (He won with Arnsparger's players.)

As Todd Kinchen said later of that '87 team as Archer was being shown the door a few years later, "The 3 Stooges could have coached that team to 10 wins."

The one LSU defeat was a 22-10 loss to Alabama. I think Tommy Hodson either didn't play or sat most of it because of injury. Should have beaten Ohio State.

LSU always had success against Joe Lee Dunn, for the most part, and this was the first one. South Carolina had Sterling Sharpe and a great team, but their defense couldn't stop LSU's offense that day.
