Coley is an excellent recruiter in Florida. Hope that pays off

I don't think Miami's recent track record supports that. Their recruiting has been lackluster in recent years.

The recruiting "wins" are only part of the equation really. Miami in and of itself has really been doing a disservice to themselves with its direction. That looks to be changing with Richt providing new ideas, but Miami isn't the juggernaut it once was when the original OB once stood. I think what Kirby really wants is the relationships already in place when you hire Coley (aside from the coaching ability). I would trust Kirby to be able to close more deals in the state of Florida than Al Golden. AG never really struck a cord with Florida recruits, IMO.

To be fair, recruiting to UGA and Athens is a much greater advantage than trying to recruit to the U and Coral Gables.

I think the strength in the hire is the long history of relationships built in the state moreso than some history of signing a bunch of 5* guys.
