According to ESPN's FPI.

quote:

According to the FPI, there’s a 77.0 percent chance that the 23rd-ranked Vols beat 13th-ranked Northwestern in the Outback Bowl on New Year’s Day.

Florida State (Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl vs. Houston) is second at 73.7 percent, while Cal (Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl vs. Air Force) is third at 72.2 percent and Arkansas (AutoZone Liberty Bowl vs. Kansas State) is fourth at 70.7 percent. Georgia (TaxSlayer Bowl vs. Penn State) rounds out the top five at 70.7 percent.

All 10 SEC teams are favored to win their bowls, according to the FPI. Florida (vs. Michigan in the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl) is the most narrow of the bunch at 50.1 percent.

Arkansas against Kansas State checks in at number 4.

The reality is when you get someone like Danny Kannell, open SEC antagonist, going on national TV and radio saying things like, "I don't think it will be close," "Northwestern doesn't have the athletes to play with TN," you know it's going to get ugly.

I think Vols win to the tune of 56 to 21. NW's 21 points will all come in the second half when their starters are battling against our walk-ons.

It'll be about 27-13. NW has a good defense but their lack of a reliable offense will be their undoing.

Their offense makes Missouri's look average. Tennessee's speed advantage should lead to a blowout for the big orange.

You have Tennessee scoring 8 TDs against Northwestern?

does FPI not realize that we're bringing a skeleton crew staff, multiple players out, lambert is our QB, and we have zero motivation?

I think we'll win of course, but a 71% chance seems awfully high.

I don't think it will be close in the 4th but would be shocked if Vols get to 50

This game should be a blowout. The thing that concerns me the most is rain slowing our guys down. Doesn't look like that will be much of a factor though.

Of more interest to most people will be the harsh, jarring and really upsetting/ugly color combination on the field.. prison orange mixed in with bruise-color purple.

Just thinking about the combination reminds me of technicolor vomit from my drinking days.

That doesn't make any sense. The Baylor fan on here assured me Northwestern is a good team this year.

You understand Kannells angle right?... poor-mouth the opponent, then if it's close or UT loses, it's a great example of SEC bias... A UT blowout, and Kannell comes off knowing why he's talking about.

It's a win/win for the haters.
