That's what I thought. At the U he'll get 3-4 four star players every year to mold

That's not the only 4/5 star kids that he had to coach here.

Even if it were, it's just a very narrow way to look at talent judging solely from "stars"

You can look at guys like Aldon Smith, Shane Ray, Markus Golden, Jaqcuis Smith, Ziggy Hood, Charles Harris, Walter Brady, Josh Augusta, Harold Brantleyetc. these were guys that obviously should have been 4/5 star kids if we are to accept that "stars" are the end all be all.

A lot of kids either get evaluated poorly, or they are late bloomers or a combination of the two.

My point was. He's had great talent to work with. He obviously did a great job developing it and I suspect he'll carry that with him to Miami.

so you're predicting Pinktards far and away best position coach, and the one he promoted all sorts of failures and average coaches ahead of, will be a success in spite of less reliance on "diamonds in the rough" recruiting?

going way out on a limb there aintcha sparky?

If those kids were as great out of high school as you are saying then how come most of them didn't get a ton of playing time right away. Or why were most of them not highly recruited? I can see some schools missing on them but not every school.

And again, I'm not saying Mizzou doesn't bring in some great talent, but Miami is going the give him a plethora of talent to work with.

And who evaluated that talent?

That Walter Brady kid is from Alabama and was seemingly not on the radar of either of the two instate power programs, or any other SEC power in the area. He was ranked like 60th-70th in the state. Its easy to say in hindsight that he was probably a 4-5 star talent all along, but at some point you have to look at Kuligowski and say that he's either got an incredible eye for talent which is why he seemingly knows how to spot these kids that no one else bothers to see, or he's really really good at developing them.

As an outside observer, I'd say that he's got both qualities. The number of small-time recruits that have gone on to become star-caliber players under Kuligowski can not possibly be a coincidence. Even bottom-tier athletes like Michael Sam performed at an above-average level under him.
