Early 70s, SMU cheerleaders on aggie field after touchdown, aggie corps turd "officer of the day" or whatever, guarding their hallowed field, runs out and indeed pulls sword.
Hilarity ensues for decades to come.
Par for the course. This pic summarizes aggie attitude:

Thanks.
It looked old so I didn't know if anyone would have the info. I'm still laughing....he actually pulled a f'ing sword on the guy.

You know, I look it up and it's 1981.
Early 70s was when the aggie corps surrounded Rice's band in their own stadium and wouldn't let them leave the field. In their own fricking stadium, after they dared to make fun of aggies. The chutzpah.

So it's not because they were pissed off about Rice implying that their buddies who had died in Vietnam were nothing more than Nazi goosesteppers? (It's not like they were "fagging around" instead of actually serving in the military in the 70's)

1981. SMU cheerleaders were trying to spell out S-M-U on the field

Here's a more accurate account of The Mob's behavior

Rice Issues Apology
Texas A&M's band had not yet received a written apology today from Rice for Saturday's halftime debacle at the Rice-A&M football game, but a public apology had been made by the Houston school via the news media.
"We have received no written apology from the Rice band yet," Major Joe T. Haney, director of the Aggie band said Tuesday morning. "But we planned to take no action anyway."
The Rice band, called "The Mob," did an on-the-field imitation of the A&M Marching band Saturday, playing an off-tune version of the Aggie fight song and marched, World War II German-style, but out of time and step.
The Owl band also gave a salute to the Aggie mascot, Reveille, by forming a fire plug on the field. Choice tidbits of explanations over the public address system also incensed the Aggies.
Police had to restrain the Aggie cadet corps from running onto the field to attack the Rice band. Following the game, the Rice band huddled under the south end of the stadium two hours while irate Aggies milled about waiting for the band to leave.
"We certainly did not intend any offense to Aggie traditions last Saturday," said Rice Band Director Bert Roth in an apology. "But if our presentation was offensive to anyone, we wish to extend our a sincere and genuine apology."
Getting pissed at The Mob is like getting pissed at South Park. They take shots at everybody.
BTW, I think the fireplug was a nice touch.

Actually they don't. There's certain topics that they don't dare touch. Texas actually gave them a list of topics that if they lampooned they would never be allowed to set foot at DKKKR Memorial Stadium again.
They were pretty tame the last time they were at Kyle.
Also, South Park doesn't make fun of American Servicemembers. They never have.

Sounds like a first-rate rustle. Respect.

Matt & Trey are also intelligent and always have a point of view. The only point of view the "Mob" had was "hurr isn't aggy ghey?". Lame.

That year, there were about 20 former members of the Aggie Band (Classes of 1970-1972) who were killed in Vietnam.
