Oh yea that's why Tennessee went out and hired Dave Serrano? I bet he wouldn't have a problem at all with giving a full scholly to a player that wouldn't even be able to play for half the year. Baseball players rarely if ever get a full scholarship.

We hired him because we have to have a baseball coach. That doesn't change the fact that you know our coach's name while 99 percent of Vol fans (including those who watch Football, basketball, the Lady Vols, and Softball) have no clue what his name is and have never watched a game or that no one at UT cares about baseball. It's hardly the only school - the fan base is non-existent. People support a minor league team over UT and baseball is a non-factor on campus. I promise we'd use up baseball scholies in a heartbeat if we were allowed to - give me 1 or all 11 for football and I'll take them.

It's a shame Alabama had to destroy the hopes and dreams of these two quarterbacks.

A&M spokesman Alan Cannon said Kevin Sumlin told Kyler Murray to not attend practice today, and Cannon said it was because it was the last day of finals. Cannon said Sumlin would visit with the media following practice on the matter.

Hmmm......why is Murray the only TAMU QB with finals today?

That's Sumlin in the back right?? This smells like the ATM powers leaking personal info to fire Sumlin with cause.

Not if you don't care about baseball and would rather use those schollies for more football players. Suddenly a grayshirt/walkon is a lot more appealing because boom here's your full ride (just play some baseball in the offseason kid - it'll be like your church softball team so don't strain yourself). I know it's hard for tRant to understand but plenty of schools don't care about CBB and would rather use those scholies for football if the NCAA would let them. I'd much rather put Dobbs and all the other FB players with any experience at all even T-ball on baseball scholarship and free up one more scholly for this class and about 99% of UT fans would too.

You don't know how baseball scholarships work do you. You only get 11.7 for the team and can only be spread amongst 27 players. No baseball player get a full ride from an athletic scholarship.
In fact at some schools with good programs in both like LSU they have used kids on football scholarships as walk ons for the baseball team to save scholarships. Jared Mitchell became a first round draft pick in baseball at LSU that way.

You can allocate them however you choose. If you want 11 on scholarship and the rest as walk ons you can do that but we've strayed wayyy beyond an initial tangent as to why you can't just put a football player on a baseball scholarship.

You can do that if you choose, you just can't do the reverse. But I don't know why you'd waste a football scholarship on a baseball player.
