What are these "Battlefields" surrounding the playing field? Sanctioned fan fighting area?

Probably something to do with Bill Battle. I bet those are places where you can get your photo made with the old coach.

The Battlefields are where they're adding additional seating on the track. They've recently announced the infield buildings will serve as locker rooms for each team.
That Colossus jumbotron.... I don't know, but I feel like that's a massive tragedy waiting to happen. The support towers in that pic look like toothpicks.
