Why has Arkansas been electing weak cuckholded Senators and Reps for decades?

Our congressional delegations have been less than worthless for say about 20 years at least.
We've been sending weak people to Washington that seem to never get a foothold in the ways of Capitol Hill and get their asses handed to them by politicians from other states.
How did a state that had WIlbur Mills, John McClellan, J. William Fulbright, and John Paul Hammerschmidt and a president fall so behind in congressional power and ability to get things done for their state? Ezekiel Gathings is probably not a congressman for us to be proud of. The Delta's demise has a lot to do with us segregationist views and lack of support for education and socio-economic progress in his district.
Every Congressman should aspires to do as much for their state as Robert Byrd of West Virgnina. LINK
I don't see Tom Cotton doing anything but bolster himself and his donation bucket. I don't see projects coming in to help deal with the growth of NW Arkansas. Nothing has been added in 20 years and it keeps on booming here, everything planned gets delayed and delayed and is finally finished a decade behind the need.
It's maddening.

I'd rather they not get anything done.

So you'd prefer for Arkanans to send in more federal taxes than get spent in this state?
You're really for Arkansas taxpayers footing the bill for projects in other states? Because Tom Cotton's grandstaning isn't going to cut federal spending. It will just mean that we get less than we pay for.
Arkansas is a poor state. We are not the ones to lead the way in "straightening out Washington". We have infrastructure needs which are not being met, and we're sending out money to be spent by other states.
It is maddening, I agree.

I'm not even going to candy-coat it...Tom Cotton is a neocon warmonger who is owned by the Israeli lobby.

I liked Dale Bumpers pretty well.
I think too much of the new guard are more concerned with voting no on everything that might get done to actually do anything useful

If he is a puppet, at least he is one who will never support outlawing private gun ownership, and a host of other unconstitutional and extra-constitutional crap that socialist democrats support.
As far as getting our fair share, there are facts and figures to be found, showing that we get back more than we send in yearly. Lamenting about infrastructure when we are 18 trillion in debt sounds slightly selfish, quite myopic, and very democrat. A child born today assumes something like $40K in debt the moment they are born.
We need less federal government, and federal spending, not more.

Troy's right.
We don't need roads, or a military or schools or things like vaccinations. That's all fricking liberal bullshite.
I should probably specify that this is sarcasm. With Trump's lead I'm not sure that complete idiocy as a joke is still possible.
btw..
The most hated president in history by the right, Obama, is the only president post WWII to preside over decreased federal spending twice.
The old joke was that the Democrats are the tax and spend party.
The new reality is that they tax and spend... and the republicans spend as much if not more.. and CUT taxes while doing it.
There's your federal debt.

I did too.
Divisive partisan politics is worse than it has ever been in this country. But both parties have one objective in common....wasteful spending of taxpayer money to advance the ever increasing size of government and the reliance upon its teat.
And I'm not talking about spending on useful infrastructure projects. That makes a lot more sense than spending taxpayer money on increasing the size of government bureaucracy and pissing it away on frivolous wars waged under false premise. Most of us are already aware of the tail that wags that dog.

I didn't put words in anyone's mouth, don't put them in mine.
Eliminate fraud, waste, abuse, and all of the alphabet agencies created by the government and not found in the Constitution, and you can build until there is no space left, pave until there is no grass, vaccinate the world, and you'll still fill all the buildings you built with the money left over.
We have allowed the government to bloat to this massive bureaucracy that only knows to feed itself and grow. Allowing it to continue can only result in tyranny.

Increasing federal spending by historic proportions, and then spending slightly less in successive years is a numbers game. The national debt has doubled under Obama. Drunken sailors look at Obama and say "damn, that guy spends a lot of money fast." Idiocy is to claim otherwise.

I like a good fact based argument.
Like how the United States has the lowest tax burden relative to GDP of any industrialized nation other than Spain :)
Also, if you think the government is bloated I'm guess you've never dealt with corporate bureaucracy :) It's just part of how things work at scale.

It is a numbers game.. unfortunately you don't know how they work lol.
The deficit relative to GDP year over year has been declining under Obama. Like it did under Clinton. NOT like it did under Reagan, Bush and Bush.
I realize that the Democrats being the fiscally responsible party doesn't fit the narrative.. just the facts.
Here's a suggestion.. do some actual research, try to find out your own information and not just repeat what your buddy told you on facebook. You might be surprised.

Every poor Southern state receives more then they send in... we just get less back then the others.
Great question CtotheVrzrbck!
And yes, frick Tom Cotton.

Instead of just assuming you're ignorant about how the numbers work, and making fun of you for it, I'll attempt to explain things:
Let us take Murders as an example.
There is an absolute murder value and a relative murder value.
(making these numbers up for an example)
In 1950 in a nation there were 1,000 murders and 10,000,000 people.
That's a murder rate of 10 per 100,000.
In 2000 in that same nation, there were 4,000 murders and 80,000,000 people.
That's a murder rate of 5 per 100,000
Statement A (which is what the debt statement is) is that murders quadrupled in the last 50 years.
The Murder RATE has actually been cut in half. You're much safer despite an increased number of murders.
That's how our Debt and Deficit works. The big number nearly Always goes up. The year over year deficits are more important than the overall debt.
You want the Deficit to be decreasing relative to GDP. Why is this important? If the size of the economy is growing faster than the size of the deficit, then you're actually cutting away at it. The value of that deficit is decreasing relative to the overall value of the economy.
It's related to inflation.. and the key amounts aren't important as absolute.. but typically as relative numbers.
example: The United States has the largest debt in the world. That is a factual statement as far as an absolute. However, we also have the largest economy in the world and relative to our economy, our debt. Our public debt to GDP is lower than most other industrialized nations.
The Obama presidency has our deficit going in the correct direction relative to the GDP. It's a pretty dramatic improvement btw. Those are facts. It might not be popular, it might not fit the rally cry of certain groups.. but it's reality.
As Stephen Colbert said.. Reality has a liberal bias
