Hugh Freeze is moving toward this. Its not like the coach isn't listening to everything on the headset. Occasionally they will overrule stuff and tweak the overall strategy but the hc nitpicking every play and changing a lot is disruptive. Freeze had some crazy deal where the OC would call first and second down and he would call third. Did not work well. Let you OC and offense get in a rhythm.
