The TAF can most likely come up with the money but to pretend like 20+ million (including new coaches buyout) is no issue is an ignorant statement dreamed up by someone who is not spending the money.

The optics alone of dropping that amount of cash in a state deeply in debt have to be considered. While the TAF fund may have the cash, dropping it on a coach while cutting back on unimportant things like education at the same time is sure to rankle some on campus.

Also this has to be a home run hire, going back to the fan base in 3 years for another buyout is not going to sell very well.


This is the hire that will both define Alleva and set his fate.
