I realize all that.
My primary concern would be is Jimbo really any better than Les?
Is Jimbo going to be able to beat Alabama?
The same Jimbo who just lost to a 3-8 Georgia Tech and has won squat without an elite qb.

I'm not even saying I want Jimbo, but a 5 million buyout for Jimbo isn't exactly a lot of money. The main concern, even though it isn't if private donors are raising the money, is Miles' buyout. And should LSU just settle for 3rd in the west for the foreseeable future with Miles? Or should the strive for what they have shown they're capable of achieving and move on?

12 million to buyout Miles
5 million to buyout the assistants

5 million to buyout Jimbo
5 million to buyout Jimbo's assistants

27 million to trade bitching about the offense for bitching about the defense, with the added bonus of watching players talk down to their coach on the sideline and do whatever the frick they want off the field

On the bright side, the BB gun wars will be fricking epic

No coach other then Saban would be worth a $30m price tag, and that's only because UA has successfully leveraged their football into a national brand to grow the university. I don't know if that's reproducible at other schools.

ESPN was saying the total cost could be over $30 million.

Speaking of ESPN, I hope the media let's LSU have it for firing the most successful coach in their history.

It still pisses me off how they treated Arkansas, after we fired Nutt, who wasn't close to our best coach. They're a bunch of hypocrites if they don't let LSU have it also.

By 1 point to a team that won in overtime vs Florida Atlantic.
A team that has Treon Harris as it's starting QB.

Yep, Vegas has all the confidence in the world in Jimbo.

The same media that laughs at Les for every major coaching blunder. I remember one of the guys on Pardon the Interruption saying Miles should have been fired for the "clock it" game against Ole Miss in 2009 (which was a gigantic blunder that the media played over and over).

At least they'd get upgraded from a 50s era offense to a 90s era offense. It's progress....

Muschamp buyout: $6.3 million over 4
McElwain buyout: *$7 million*
Mac compensation: $3.5 million for 6 years

*That is total value of buyout. UF pays CSU $3 million over 6 years, we are paying them another $2 million to come and play a game in The Swamp and Mac himself is paying $2 million.

So around 17 million?

Not saying it was the wrong call, but I bet at the time lots of people thought Florida was crazy for doing that.
