Exactly.

I agree. But there's a problem with this approach. It's a media narrative now. And the media will not let anyone ignore it. Social media provides the initial platform, and mainstream media takes over from there. If a University were to ignore them, then only one side of that story gets told - and that University will be made to look as bad as possible. If the media will stay distracted, this strategy would work. But they won't. Because, ratings. It all goes back to money.

But with all the groups doing their list of demands at one time, it doesn't allow the media to focus on each one and make it a national story. Plus, the bloom is off the rose with Mizzou having gone first. It's not a novel story now.

And finally, it's easy to believe that there's a campus which has some race relations issues. It's difficult to believe that every single campus has a really serious race relations issue. And yet campus after campus is experiencing these protests. After the first few, the media consumers begin to roll their eyes and move on to the next story.
