Fayetteville doesn't really have a ghetto. One cul de sac on the west side is mainly it.

Food I'd recommend in order:

Vetro (Italian, square)
Doe's (dickson)
WoodStone Pizza (mill dist, southside)

Hugo's (burgers, american, Block st off square)

Herman's (bbq, N. College Ave)
Whole Hog Cafe (bbq N. College Ave)

Farrell's (dickson, sports gastropub)
San Lio (upscale chinese, dickson)
Wasabi (japanese, dickson)

For classy drinking spots:

Theo's (dickson, campbell st)
Bordino's (dickson)
Cork & keg (dickson, west ave)
Fresco (square, center st, also good light italian fare, usually has a jazz quartet)

Dives:

Kingfish
Roger's Rec (dickson)
George's (dickson, might be live music and a cover)
Mickey's (dickson)

Hipsters:

Smoke & Barrell (dickson area)
Maxine's (block st)
Big Star Lounge (block)

teh Gheys:

Club Push (block st)
C4 (off Dickson, near Cork & Keg off West Ave)

Seriously, those are the full-on gay bars downtown. Common Grounds and Liquid Lounge trend gay, but are more mixed.

Most of the rest of the bars I didn't list are collegey, fratty, or douchey.
