I've posted this before on here, but it's worth repeating just how futile Paul Johnson is against FBS teams. The day before COFH in 2009 everyone knew he was a genius that was destined to dominate the Dawgs and the rest of the ACC for years to come.
Since that night he is 31-37 against teams in BCS conferences. Johnson loses 55% of his games against teams from decent conferences (keep in mind that most of those games are against ACC foes like BC, Duke, UNC, VT, UVA, Pitt, Syracuse, Wake, etc.)
All of this has been accomplished in a period where Tech has been placed on probation (following another probation in 2005 under the previous coach) and placed on a follow up failure to monitor last year.
I know Jackets will respond that they didn't do anything wrong and the NCAA was in some way biased against them. Whatever the case, Johnson's record against FBS teams while committing NCAA violations is pretty terrible.
Take away 2014 and his record against real teams is Vanderbilt level bad.

Still more BCS bowl appearances than Richt since Johnson came on in 2008
