Explain how you suddenly gained 5 extra titles? Why is it so important to your fan base to have these bogus claims accepted? WHY?

As for why Bama didn't claim the other 5 till after '83, I have no idea as it's obvious they only counted the poll titles prior to that...maybe for marketing reasons...either way I don't see any logical reason as to why '41 is claimed as it's an embarrassment...

Other than 1941, I don't know why everyone thinks so many of the other titles are bogus. While lookin' at the '64 and '73 titles thru today's eyes looks iffy, they were backed by either the AP and/or the Coaches polls and I don't know of any school who doesn't claim a poll title regardless of whether they won or lost their bowl game. While there were no polls/authorities to back the pre-poll titles Bama claims (1925, 1926, 1930, and 1934), at least some of the newspapers felt the Rose Bowl was a de facto championship game as it was the only bowl game back then...and Bama won (or tied in '26) the Rose Bowl each of those years. Found one contemporary newspaper that claimed Bama winners of the "National Grid Title" in 1925 after their Rose Bowl win over Washington: 1926 Rose Bowl Article

I can't answer for the whole Bama fan base. I've been a fan ever since I watched my first Bama game on TV back in'69...and while I like Bama's tradition and history, I'm not hung up on the exact number of titles claimed...I agree with you that we haven't won15...but I'm comfortable with any number in the 10 to 14 range...

I will shamelessly claim '41 as State's title.
