I've been trying to stay updated on this subject, without much comment. I understand the passion this child has for his team, but I hope he is surrounded by loving family that will bring him real comfort, than what football can, which I'm sure he has.
Sid is surrounded by a loving family and the entire community of Mountain Brook, they have stood by him through this entire ordeal. If anyone took the time to drive through Mountain Brook over the last months, they would see purple and gold ribbons/bows/balloons all over homes, places of buisness and mail boxes throughout the small city.

At its best, this is a very complicated form of escapism. If you don't believe me, just head on over to tRant and strike up a conversation about how Bama will beat LSU with any one of the million rantards in house
It is not a complicated form of escapism for a 16 yr old boy.

Les Miles has obviously grown attached and fond of this young man and his tragic situation. And there probably is nothing more noble of him, then to try and prepare his team for a game, and inspire them with however he feels about this young man's plight. It's important though that he does not tether the hopes of this young man to mere football anymore, or his family's. I understand this is one of his wishes...to see LSU play Nov. 7th. I just hope the focus can remain on doing what's best for him, sustaining his peace of mind and providing comfort that might prove more helpful for him and in turn his family, considering the hard days, months, and years to come.
The focus right now is to make Sid as comfortable as possible in his last days on earth. LSU football distracts Sid and his family from the reality that faces them in these dark days. Les Miles has gone out of his way to be a "friend" to this young man and Les has been a friend that prays with him in an effort to provide peace and comfort.
