I'm not really 100% sure what you're getting at here but this kid is going through some real shite and Les and LSU football give him some relief from his pain. You do what you can to make that kid feel as little as he possibly can right now. He and his family are ridiculously strong through all of this.

Exactly. I don't know a whole lot about bone cancer but I imagine this kid is in a great deal of physical pain. But even worse than that, this kid who should be thinking about things like what sort of car he wants or that cute girl who lives up the street, is having to face his own mortality knowing he probably won't live much more than a few days or weeks. I'm a 45 year old grown man and I'd probably be huddled in a corner somewhere crying like a baby if i were facing what he was facing.

The biggest thing that Les Miles gives this kid is a chance to not have to think about that though. He's giving him a chance to put all that aside and be a kid getting to be around his favorite team and just be a LSU fan for a little while. And on top of this escape, Les is also giving him a sense that his favorite team is behind him, praying for him and encouraging him the best they can. He should be commended for what he's doing.

I know Mountain Brook sometimes gets a unfair bad rap for being a snobby and snooty place but seeing the way that community has rallied behind Sid during his illness has been so touching.

Sid's physical body may not be in this world for very long but he will live on in the hearts and souls of everyone he knew.

If we could all be so lucky to leave behind such warm feelings and love in those who knew us when we go, the world would be a much better place.

I sure hope he gets to see his LSU tigers play my Crimson Tide.

Geaux Sid!
