Seven weeks of the 2015 football season have passed, and Alabama freshman running back Bo Scarbrough has been eligible to play for three of them. But the former five-star athlete has yet to see a meaningful snap in a Crimson Tide game.
Wednesday night during his post-practice press conference, UA head coach Nick Saban gave an update on Scarbrough.
"Bo's getting better and better every week," Saban said. "I see the speed coming back, I see the burst coming back. The biggest thing is we gotta to get him up to speed on knowing what to do and getting him enough reps in practice to get him ready to be able to play in a game, although I do think he's ready to play in a game now. I do think he can make a contribution, and that's coming sometime soon.
"We're also trying to work with him on special teams and get him up to speed on what he needs to do to be able to contribute there because he could be a very good special teams player for us."
Against Georgia in Week 5, Scarbrough stepped on the field at tailback in the waning minutes of the game. The freshman saw two carries against the Bulldogs and three total touches in two games over a three-game span.
Scarbrough was the No. 2-rated athlete and No. 12 overall player in 2014, according to the 247Sports Composite.
