I don't know man, asking certain posters to use logic and reason might lead them to conclusions they can't to come grips with.

Play away from the natty
Nope, sorry. Play away from the title game, maybe - a score was not guaranteed, even if The Pass had simply been an incompletion.
That just gets the team to the title game. Richt winning a national high profile game? Far less certain outcome.
And just because Bama crushed ND, as the pro-Richt folks always like to point out "We aren't Bama."

Even if we concede the point...
If Richt started in 2010 and had us in the SECCG twice in the last five years, that'd be great.
But 2000-2005 is not 2010-2015
That's not even to speak of 2006-2009

Haven't we stopped this now? Are there any on the horizon? I'm too lazy/busy/tired/etc to look it up myself..
I disagree. We have been in the top 5 briefly a few times and in the top 10 many times, but only in 2010 were we close to playing in an NC game within 5 seconds of the end of the season.

Huh? Do you even Georgia? In 2010 we went 6-7.
Liberty Bowl loss.
Central Florida.
Batman gloves.

In the current environment the charge holds merit.

Richt also won the SEC twice Two sugar bowls Play away from the natty And has had Georgia as a national title contender multiple times This comparison is stupid as frick
Yes, 2 SEC titles....the last of which was 10 years ago.
Yes, 2 sugar bowl wins, one against Hawaii. Does anyone think if we play Hwaii 1000 times we lose more than 5 times? Also don't forget the blow out to fricking low life basement dwelling West Virginia. We have not been a national title contender under Richt....not once, certainly not multiple times.
Listen, I understand being afraid of change. But as S pith Carolina learned today change is going to happen. Without change you can't progress. We are stuck in mediocrity. Mark. Richt has built us into a solid, winning program...but that is ALL that he is capable of. We were teetering on the edge of becoming even less relavent than we had been prior to a Richts arrival.....but he has done all he can. Like Spurrier he was the best coach for the job when he was hired....that is no longer the case.
Richt is damaging his legacy at UGA. Does anyone think he is more likely to win a natty than have a 4-8 season or two? He should have resigned at least 5 years ago. He is merely taking money and not doing his best work at this stage....and that is stealing, a very unholy thing.
I admire Richt. He simply is not a great coach and is marginally an acceptable coach. Hiring someone new is fraught with danger...not doing it is just as risky because you become complacent as a program....

Get comfortable being uncomfortable. That's what we need to do.

I think the recent program changes are being overlooked. And by program changes, I really mean the adminstrative/higherups change of philosophy in regards to money and support that the football programs receives. The tide, in this regard, just changed, and will take a couple of years to manifest imo. Not saying Richt will take advantage of it or not, but I think we should wait at least until the inddor practice facility is done. Changing coaches between now and then would not help us at all, unless we could get Chip Kelly.

I don't need the time. I would immediately throw the non SEC Championship coaches resume in the trash. Without a second thought.

Our aversion to getting uncomfortable as a program is exactly why Richt has not reached his potential as a coach.
Richt was the perfect fit for a program like Georgia that has always been close to greatness but never crossed the line. His entire career has been one of being satisfied with being nearly good enough .... he is the ULTIMATE back up QB. And apparently he is able to sale that mentality to others (he has done it at least twice with QB's here at UGA).
If Richt had been told 7 or so years ago that he was going to get better or get gone get better he would have done....but there has never been a real threat of his being fired or forced out and so he is comfortable and complacent....and it starts at the foundation of the UGA athletic programs....always flirting with greatness, rarely achieving it (I know there are some exceptions but the money sports are all pretty bad)

Donnan was fired because of his records against our rivals or the historical powers of the SEC. Granted, in the past decade, UT has been WAY down, UF has been down, Auburn has been very middling with the exception of couple really good teams and couple of really bad teams, and Tech has only put together a couple of good teams. Richt has feasted on those teams teams being down compared to when Donnan was a coach.
If it wasn't for Richt's record vs GT, Auburn, and lately against UT, then I think he'd have been fired already. UF still is a bugaboo, but he's beaten them more than previous 2 coaches combined.

And a lot of sportscasters had the Sugar Bowl vs. Hawaii picked as their "upset" because, well.....Georgia.
Fortunately, Richt and the team did a good job of proving them wrong with that one.
