I've seen them combine one of each combined/hyphenated name.

FWIW, I considered going hyphenated when I get married. Since my brother passed, I'm the last of my Dad's line and considered keeping the name that way.

I also thought it was pretty cool when Michael Gilchrist took on the Kidd in Kidd-Gilchrist when the Uncle that raised him passed.

To each his own I suppose.
