We have to provide a QB.

Well, it's either the former walk-on, or the true freshman.
It'll be Nunez.
It'll be Nunez.

Is the backup the one who started over Nunez but then wasn't very effective?

South Carolina freshman quarterback Lorenzo Nunez did not practice Tuesday due to a sprained shoulder suffered during Saturday’s loss to Missouri.
“He should be OK by the end of the week,” head coach Steve Spurrier said.
Nunez will need to show Spurrier he can throw during the practice week if he is going to start Saturday against No. 7 LSU, Spurrier said. Nunez, who has made two career starts, looked Saturday like he could use as much practice time as he can get.
“He wanted to take off (and run) every play as you could tell in the game,” Spurrier said. “We need to coach him up a lot better and get the ball out of his hands when he goes back there. He sort of reverted back to taking off a little early the last game. That’s part of being a freshman and part of being a very good runner, I guess.
Nunez is the Gamecocks leading passer (31 of 51 for 374 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptiosn) and rusher (45 carries for 299 yards) after five games. Junior Perry Orth and redshirt freshman Michael Scarnecchia will “get ready” also, Spurrier said.
“We’ll wait until the end of the week to see where everyone is,” Spurrier said.

Orth is the former walk-on. First came in after Mitch got injured during the Kentucky game. Almost brought us back against them, he played pretty well.
Orth started for the UGA game, but did awful. In garbage time, Nunez was put in and he did decent. So he started the UCF and Mizzou games.

Syracuse didn't seem to have too much of an issue on offense with their 5th string quarterback or whatever he was. So maybe that'll benefit y'all.

Okay thank you. Just making sure I was thinking of the right team.

You will have the daunting task of either facing our injured true freshmen qb or our stud walk on. Furthermore, we have a walk on rb who is starting to garner touches and 2 walk-on wrs who are also starting to get serious PT. Our walk-on program STACKED. Be afraid....

Orth. Zo Nunez is doubtful

Let me guess, they aren't necessarily the best athletes but they leave it all on the field. They really give it 110% every play. They just show a lot of heart out there.
Amirite?
