Gideon was a standout safety at Texas starting all 52 college games, which is the second-most in school history, during his time from 2008-2011. He had 276 tackles and 10 interceptions during his four-year career. He spent two seasons with the Denver Broncos on their practice squad before deciding to get into coaching.
Gideon, who played for Muschamp at Texas for three seasons, joined his staff at Florida in 2014 and then followed him to Auburn in 2015 to work with the secondary.
