i wouldnt put it outside of the realm of possibilities, Kirby has always enamored Ray. Which is why Vegas has him as the odds on favorite for the job. I know we all want Herman or Fuente but Kirby may very well be the guy Ray hires. So you attacking that comment is just crazy talk.

I know we all want Fuente, but if he falls through then I believe Kirby is the next best. He is a great recruiter and will be here for a while once he realizes the fan support, AD support and facilities. He will be able to recruit here and shove it to his alma mater for passing on him while he was a Pos coach.

Keep in mind this is all if Fuente passes on us, I for one do not want Herman. He seems like the guy who will jump ship once he gets a blue blood job no matter the job he has done here.

I think the Muschamp failure is still fresh in the minds of anyone considering the "successful coordinator to head coach" jump.

Muschamp could recruit, that is undeniable. It's also undeniable that Smart can recruit. It's hard to imagine Smart will be able to lure many of the position coaches away from Alabama with him, so the burden of assembling an all-new coaching squad will be on him. So while Smart may be able to get all the talent in the world, it means nothing if the coaching doesn't click - and that's what worries me about the choice of Smart. Something about it just reminds me of Muschamp, and he had wayyy more resources and prestige to build on at Florida.

This isn't to say that hiring Smart wouldn't get me excited, there would just be a bit of nerves that would come with it.

I think if you get a coach like Fuente, who obviously has the capability of turning a turd into a diamond, and can bring the staff he is comfortable with him, you're making the right move. If he falls through, I think you have to throw the kitchen sink at Herman.

As much as I wish we were, I just don't think we're in a position to make a "high risk-high reward" move. Those are just my thoughts.

I wasn't attacking the idea that Smart would come here and I'd like it if he did.

I will never pass up an opportunity to point out that Mark Schlabach is a giant UGA homer and his opinion isn't worth much though. Especially if UGA is involved
