Here's some questions about Riley, then. What kind of connections does a 32 year old kid have that has never been in the SEC have to assemble a staff? Who would he assemble for a defensive staff?
I think Muschamp is the best of the second tier. Herman didn't work out, so be it. I think he's rolling the dice way to hard to pass up a SEC head job to hope that the luster doesn't fade from Houston next season and that Texas or TAMU comes open and they would consider him a top choice. Everyone questioned what would happen to Smart is the UGA job came open, we got an answer. Kind of glad it happened now instead of next year or the next while he was still rebuilding this team. Fuente didn't pan out for several reasons.
You win games with offense and championships with defense. There is no arguing that Muschamp's offenses at Florida were God awful, like hard to watch awful, but you've got to think he'll learn from it.
If we hire Muschamp, he's going to give us 110% because this is his last chance. He's going to push this team harder to succeed than Spurrier or Holtz I believe because it isn't just about competing and winning championships, it's for his livelihood. Screw this up and he's a lifetime coordinator.
