Again...the rain that is coming is not the hurricane/tropical storm/depression passing overhead. There's an extremely strong upper low in the Southeast that's going to continuously draw moisture in as the hurricane skirts by. This is the kind of rain that is just going to sit on top of you. It's not a passing storm. The storm could very well curve out to sea, and it probably will. It'll probably be 500+ miles off shore. NC/SC are still going to flood...and Athens may get 5 inches. With a ground that's already saturated, everything that falls is going to be way worse than it would otherwise.

Up here in SC, the local stations are calling for historic numbers. Not record, but historic.

ETA: Clemson and ND are going to play from kayaks

Where are you in SC? I'm in Cola and pretty happy to live at a relatively high elevation compared to the surrounding area. They're calling for 12'' to 18''.

I get what you're saying but the further east the storm the less overall impact I would expect it to have....but I'm by no means a meteorologist so don't really know what the hell in talking about. Also the weather folks always seem to overshoot when they get all excited.

Edit: It looks like central SC estimates are now down to less than 10''. Still a ton but not as much as earlier predicted.
