As far as the hail mary is concerned...do you only count it for the losing team? I notice in our matchup (me beating spanky's arse, of course) that you denoted his hail mary failed. Was my guess (no idea if it was correct or not) taken into account?
I guess what I'm asking is....do you look at both participant's guesses in what you have deemed as the hail mary question, or only look at the team losing as their last ditch effort to win? If the latter, that's not really fair at all.

It's like you said. If you both hit it and you're leading prior thereto then you lose (I think the theory to make it analogous to a game is the person behind has the ball and there's only one play left). I lost one last year this way. If you are leading at that time you are at a disadvantage which is what I don't like about it but otherwise I like the rest of the format with bonuses, etc.
On another issue I've noticed some picking the underdog to win which if correct earns seven points for the pick. I've always been picking the underdog to cover because they don't have to win and I still get the seven points if they cover. The only other thing which comes in to play is that you can play the bonus with the cover and have a chance at eight points versus seven (or six if you miss the bonus). I'm trying to figure out as to why a player would pick the underdog to win as opposed to simply picking the underdog to cover in cases where the player believes the underdog will win?

The Hail Mary ONLY comes in to play if AFTER all games are completed, and you TRAIL your opponent by 7 pts or less. It is a last ditch effort for you to either win the game or tie it up and send it to OT, whereas the Tie Breaker decides the winner. I would like to hear from you guys and how you feel about the HM Bonus ... keep it, get rid of it, or modify it?
As for picking the underdog to win ... this one made me think some ... the original intent to go with picks against the spread or picks to win straight up was to include the different ways of scoring in an actual football game ...in this case ... TD or FG. But it does raise a question ... what happens when you pick the underdog to win? Are you awarded 3pts or 6 pts? If the underdog wins, then obviously they cover as well ...so it virtually renders picking the underdog to win a moot point.
So let me hear what you think. If we need to make some modifications, we will do so. I'm open to suggestions and ideas ... I want to make this Pick Em as good as it can be.
