How can you assume that the F500 companies wouldn't have located in the Delta if the University had been there instead? Or in Little Rock? Logistically, Little Rock is a much better location.

That won't stay in Arkansas. So, that's going to benefit us how?

this is happening all over the country Wart, the exposure to other teams is greater now than ever. Its not a unique thing to the flagship of arkansas.

Not that it proves anything that we don't already know, but here are the percentages of students at our SEC brethren schools that call the state the university is in home:
A&M 95%
GA 90%
TN 89%
LSU 80%
MSU 73%
KY 71%
MO 66%
AU 64%
OM 60%
Ark 59%
AL DNP
SC DNP
VND DNP
FL DNP
DNP - Does not participate in the Voluntary System of Accountability (VSA).
At 59%, we are the lowest, with maybe the exception of Vanderbilt. I'm pretty sure all the others are above us.

I have been to Monticello and I agree. It is a nice small town. Shame on you for assuming I haven't been. I've been to Fordyce too. And Dumas, McGehee, Arkansas City, Beebe, Hope, Malvern, Lake Village, Sheridan, Warren, Helena, Forrest City, Augusta, McCrory, Lonoke, DeValls Bluff, Brinkley, Hazen, etc. I don't talk about places I haven't been. And I mean it when I say not many college grads, be it UA or UCA, are moving to any of those cities. And people going to OU sure as hell aren't moving back to those towns

That's not what it sounding like you were saying, so I apologize.
I have been to all the places you listed except McCrory I think and have spent a good bit of time in many of them. Lived in a couple of them.
If not already, it will soon be that the majority of graduates from the University of Arkansas won't remain in Arkansas either. The ones that stay will be the ASU, UCA, Henderson, SAU, UAM, Tech grads.

A little surprised at Alabama's numbers - just kind of roughly guessed it would be similar to Auburn (if not higher due to Auburns proximity to GA) and the other SEC schools above us.

I was basically choosing it as a best-case scenario for small town Arkansas outside of NWA, Central Arkansas and Hot Springs

El Dorado is not too bad either. Magnolia is okay.
Point is, South Arkansas is not a total wasteland. Some damn fine folks down here, and some good athletes as well. And more money than you'd think, although not as spread out.
This is the part of the state that pretty much feeds the rest, supplies the lumber to frame those nice houses and knows how to work and mostly could survive without any help from the rest of the state.
But I digress. Getting back to the subject, I hope ASU beats Toledo like a damn drum. A couple of homeboys from south Arkansas are on ASU's team and of course I want to see them do well. Another kid I know will be up there on the team next year. Thus my increased interest in how well ASU does. Until they play UofA (which may never come about) I will pull for ASU as well as the Hogs.
