We're all pissed now because of the game, but this is still a good job. Spurrier showed what is actually possible here. Some of that "you can't win there" stigma is gone.

very true. it's also easier to reach Atlanta coaching in the SEC East.

I don't think USC will have as hard of a time as UTK did after Dooley was fired.

without at doubt. Ray Tanner may not be the most experienced AD in a P5 conference but he's light years ahead of Tater Hamilton and dipshit Dave Hart. Ray is also respected around college athletics unlike either of the two clowns Hamilton/Hart. Carolina also doesn't have the financial problems of UTK either.

as far as who Carolina may look for...

Gary Patterson & Chip Kelly get my first 2 calls.

Tom Herman/Houston (40) - Cincinnati OH native that is off to a good start at Houston, but 1 season as a HC may not be enough of a sample size to determine success at any SEC school. Herman's experience is all as a coordinator in college. I question his high school recruiting ties as he played small college FB in CA and never coached at the HS level.

Justin Fuente/Memphis (39) - Tulsa OK native that has Patterson ties. 13-3 at Memphis after winning 7 of 24 to start. UM was 3-21 before he took the job. former OU qb who finished his career at Murray State.

Joey Jones/South Alabama (52) - Mobile native played WR for Bear. successful and known HS coach in AL with deep recruiting ties. USA was a start-up program that Jones built and elevated to FBS in just 8 total seasons.

my darkhorse...

Bill Clark/UAB (47) - Anniston native and son of AL high school coaching legend. he also won state titles coaching HS ball in AL. former Jacksonville State Gamecock QB and successful JSU HC before taking over the disaster at the Medical School in B'ham. posted a winning record in his first year at UAB before it was disbanded, and now restarting again next season. like Jones, he has many deep recruiting ties in Alabama high school football.

UAB Football - recent
2007–2011 Neil Callaway 5 18–42 .300
2012–2013 Garrick McGee 2 5–19 .208
2014–present Bill Clark 1 6–6 .500

both Joey Jones and Bill Clark have had to be involved with every aspect of building/overseeing/operating a football program with resources nowhere near what Carolina offers.

I don't think spurrier will be done after this season. I think we will find who our good players are and spurrier will give it one more shot next year.
