I think Saban has done a better job of getting the younger studs on the field since then. Henry and Kamara should have been slowly worked into the offense earlier in the season.

Naaaa the coaches must have had their reasons. They didnt take time to work Trent, Yeldon, or Ingram in from the very beginning. Probably why he had high hopes and expectations to contribute so highly early on.

Y'all dont remember Henry getting chewed out by AJ in the 2013 opener against Virginia Tech? He was a part of the plan, but when he wasn't carrying the ball, he was lost. He also lost some time due to that injury he had during the spring.

Kamara also had a minor injury during fall camp. I think he had his knee scoped or something. I am sure both guys were part of the big picture plan going into fall camp, but Kamara's shot was done when he got hurt, and the staff never really trusted Henry (In hindsight, I personally think he would have been a nice factor in that Iron Bowl loss, expecially with Yeldon clearly limited).

ETA: Also, that Iron Bowl was supposedly around the time when Saban told Nuss to GTFOH. Remember Kiffin came in as an offensive consultant during Bowl Prep and pretty much said at the time he thought Henry was the best offensive player on the team, (even though he clearly changed his mind a little bit on that ranking when he took over as OC and spent a little more time with that Amari guy).

Great story on Henry, glad he hung in there... thanks for sharing Sarc!
