ESPN’s College Gameday was back Saturday as Chris Fowler, Desmond Howard, Lee Corso and Kirk Herbstreit began their annual predictions a week before the division one season begins.

The most interesting of predictions game when each analyst predicted his final four for the College Football Playoff and national champion. Howard and Corso both chose UCLA as their national champions while Herbsteit chose Florida State to repeat.

In Howards final four he had Georgia, Florida State, UCLA and Wisconsin where Georgia and UCLA advanced with UCLA taking the title.

Corso had Michigan State and Florida State playing with Alabama and UCLA where UCLA defeats Florida State to win the championship.

Lastly, Herbstreit chose Florida State to beat MSU and Alabama to beat UCLA leading to a Florida State over Alabama championship game.

All three analysts had UCLA in their final four. UCLA does, however, have one of the toughest schedules in college football where they play Texas, Arizona State, Oregon, Washington, USC and Stanford. UCLA would need to win a very tough Pac-12 conference to reach the playoff.

Other interesting predictions included Howard taking Georgia running back Todd Gurley as his Heisman favorite while Corso and Herbstreit took UCLA quarterback Brett Hundley.

Howard and Corso said that Notre Dame would win nine games while Herbsteit said he thinks Notre Dame will win just seven games in wake of academic scandals.

Howard also made some interesting conference picks where he picked Texas to win the BIG-12, Wisconsin to win the B1G 10 and Georgia to win the SEC.

They got FSU and Alabama right. Ohio State would've been picked but they had lost to Michigan State in the Big 10 championship the year before.

UCLA looked very promising but they had a very hard schedule.

They were close with FSU and Bama, and had Miller not gone down, they would have picked Ohio State too.

People forget that both Barrett and Jones did not look good in their spring open practice or whatever it was (Cardele looked awful). There wasn't a lot of confidence for the QB position leading up to the season as well. Elliott WAS NOT a beast in the preseason, that he was in the postseason. They had lost around 3450 of their 4320 rush yards, and 40 rush TDs. They had lost the starting QB, and the backup so 2 returning pass attempts. They were however, pretty set with psss catchers. Then they looked meh against Navy and got beat bad at home, against an average Virginia Tech team that was comprised almost entirely of first year starters. JT threw 3 picks and was sacked 7 times.

A light bulb went off for Barrett, and the rest is history.
