Active SEC West coaches by career overall winning percentage:

Saban: .750

Miles: .724
Freeze: .711
Sumlin: .692

Edit: mea culpa on one error. The rest are right.

Before you made your own thread I was going to let it slide, but now I can't.

Freeze: .711

.654

That's just one. I didn't look at all of them so it's possible more are wrong.

ETA:

Saban: .750

.754

Sumlin: .725

.692

frankly, this surprises me. I would have guessed much lower based on my observations of his teams at a&m.

my big question now would be how's his record against top teams (that's all I've witnessed). maybe top 25, top 10, etc.

Ok, so I overlooked

CAREER winning percentage
. Regardless, my comments below are true for each team that they're with now.

honestly, considering the program he took on and where it is today, the most impressive is:

quote:

Mullen: .597

quote:

Freeze: .711

Is also impressive, but let's see some more...

Sumlin: .725

GTFO, dude is hollywood with the hollywood fanbase. aTm is sooo great but has never done shite. Sumlin will live and die off of Johnny Football's balls.

Now show us how many conference and national championships each has won. You may include Sumlin's time in the lowly C-USA, however I don't think it'll help your case much.

Interesting to note, while all the names above him have been HCs elsewhere, Merlins' entire career winning percentage has been at MSU, where he faces every one of those more successfull HCs every single season.

Despite this obvious handicap, he's winning at a pace of almost 60%, at a school whose historic winning percentage prior to his hiring was only 48%.

Only Saban, Miles and Bundy have enough tenure to make a legitimate read.
