I'll say this: if Butch doesn't get it done, I'll always be thankful that he got the VOLS' alert level back to respectability and that he worked his arse off.

I can't remember who I was talking to, but I had the exact same sentiments. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and mine is that Butch isn't a capable enough coach to lead a storied program like Tennessee back to prominence. He's recruiting his arse off, but in MY opinion he can't coach it. But Vol fans should definitely appreciate all of the effort he has put in.

Worst case scenario he still leaves things a LOT better than how he found them for the next coach.

I would say that's fair. I'm not sure about Butch as a coach but it also isn't fair to judge him on the first two years considering what he inherited imo.

Worst case scenario is Butch can't coach 'em up and flames out but Tennessee will look way more appealing due to the roster, unlike when Kiffin bolted and Dooley sabotaged the program.

He's had a couple of blunders, but I'm not going to write him off yet. Every great coach has to start somewhere. Not saying he is a great coach, but I'll give him a chance to succeed/fail.

Either way, it's more fun watching UT these days than it was a few years ago.
