If he hasn't grown as a coach at all from last year, he gone. Dude was as overmatched as anyone in the conference. It was really shocking. When he was hired it looked like a good move. He just wasn't what people thought.

He was a DC that was becoming a head coach for the first time. Hell, he was only a fulltime DC the past 2 years. Before that he was a position coach. All the top players had just left and Franklin was siphoning off the recruits he did have committed at that time. They had nothing last year, of course it was going to be bad.

The reaction in the media and from CFB fans over last year is typical of the social media age though. Over reactionary. This is still Vandy, for people to expect it to have been anything more than a dumpster fire year one when looking at all the angles, don't understand the college game. It's not like he started in some sun belt or mountain west team and did good for 3 years and then transitioned. He moved straight from 2 years of DC to HC at the most football talentless and weakest team in the toughest conference.

This is almost has bad as the expectations for South Carolina preseason last year after all they lost on defense.

Vandy should be better this year, but your guess is as good as mine on the record. I think if they can sweep the OOC games, he will have done good. If he can upset anybody in the SEC, then he worked a miracle.
