When I was in high school, it was 80 for our opener. Our last regular season game was played in 12 degree weather and our playoff game was a snow bowl.

We always started the Friday before Labor Day . It doesn't seem like a couple of weeks can make a difference but it does. It was 92° with 75% humidity & no breeze at kick off (7:30).
